Rödjenäs Gård

Rodjenas is situated in the region of Smaland and covers over 1000 hectares, consisting of forestry, meadowland and farmland. Rödjenäs Gård (estate) is a typical swedish country estate with old houses & view over the lake Nömmen. There is one main building and two detacted wings, one of them is availabe for you. The houses are from mid 1700th and are surrounded by a beautiful park setting, wich is surrounded by fields, wich is surrounded by forrest and water.

The north wing

The house available for you is the north wing. It has a genuine exterior and a modernized interior. Central heating, a big hall, living room, washingmachine, internet, about 140m2 livingspace. Pets are allowed. Even horses, but not in the house, we have a stable.
Included in the house is Boat, Fishing licence, Sauna by the lake, internet,see below.

Ground floor:

Total living space aproximately 100m2.

Two bedrooms with five beds. If you use the bedsofa in the livingroom you get 7 beds & one child bed.

Bathroom with toilet, bathtub & shower.

Spacious kitchen with electrical owen. microwave & dishwasher. Dining space for 8 - 10 persons. View over park, trampoline and lake in the distance.

Livingroom with satelite television (viast gold), an old but surfable PC, switch for wired/wireless internet connecton (3,6mbit). Stereo for amplifying television or your ipod/laptop.

Big entrance with a lot of space for shoes, boots & wet clothes.

Open terrace with seating and BBQ.

Second floor:

Total living space aproximately 40m2.

Two bedrooms with two beds in each.

Little bathroom with toilette & shower.

Childrens corner with TV & PS2 (no satelite yet). Small stereo with CD.

This house is not primarily designed for accomodation but we have had several guests staying here and they have been very satisfied. You can read more here.

The garden
Beutiful park wirh lot of space for children to play. There is a trampoline ready (4,6m). Here you will meet the dogs Dock & Birdie who usually spend a lot of time with the children of our guests. If you want to lie on a blanket & surf on internet you can do that here.

Forrests & fields
The area surrounding Rödjenäs is of great natural beauty and offers a variety of walks and cycle paths. There are plenty of wild berries and mushrooms to enjoy on the way.

The lake & river
It is not far to the bathing place by lake Nömmen with canoes, wooden heated sauna & bathtub.

One boat & fishing license for Rödjenäs waters (350ha) is included in the house. The sauna is free of charge for guests (you). It is possible to rent bigger fishingboats with engines or canoes. With the canoes it is possible to enter the river and canoe in amazonas like surroundings, this is a whole day activity. It is actually possible to canoe all the way to the Baltic sea but it will take a few days.
If someone want to try waterskiing & similar it is also possible.

The lake is very nice and unique with a lot of islands to explore, don't get lost! other guests have. You will get a map of course. During August it is possible to join in for profesional crayfishing or try to catch some of the "black gold" by your own. If you come in wintertime & the lake is frozen it is possible to skate or do "ice hole fishing" (or what it's called in english).

Other Activities & Facilities
The meeting/party-facility Källarvinden is available on the eastate. It consist of an old cellar (stone valt) that is equipped with tables, bar & open fireplace. Over the cellar there is a modern meeting/conference room with kitchen, toilet, shower, projector & internet. There are also sofabeds & madrasses so it's possible to live there without problems. If you are many or maybe have teenagers who want to live alone this is an alternative. It is also an alternative if the south-wing is not available or someone want to come earlier or stay longer. If the wether is bad & it is available you are welcome here to watch films or play games.

Equipment for paintball is available for rent. It is played on a beutiful natural gamefield or on an island on Nömmen.

An enduro-track is the latest thing on Rödjenäs. You are welcome to bring your motorcycles! The track is situated about 3km from the house so there is no noice from the track if you want calm & quiet. The track is about 4km and is used both by beginners & proffessionals.

If you are interrested in shooting it is possible to try skeet or fire at "fake moose on rail". If you want to do real hunting it is possible during following dates:
* 16 aug-30 sept: sniper hunt on deer & wild hogs.
* 11 okt-30 nov: Moose hunt in different maners.
* 1 nov-31 jan: Hunt on deer, wild hogs, hare & fox in different maners.
Of course you must have hunting license valid for Sweden.

The Highlands of Småland

From Rödjenäs you easily reach -- by car or bicycle -- nearby vilages, towns & activities:

Stensjön: 4km, village
Closest shop where you can buy food, icecream & cigarettes. Lies by lake Nömmen so it's reachable by boat! trainstation (Nässjö <-> Vetlanda).

Björköby: 5km, village
Church, Icecream if good weather. Enlightend running/skiing track, tennis (hard track), trainstation (Nässjö <-> Vetlanda).

Nässjö: 18km, City
Nassjo is the main rail link for the region (Malmö, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Vetlanda, Eksjö). Here you can enjoy the Railway Museum, ten-pin bowling, a great golf course and outdoor pursuits centre.

Eksjö 22km, City
Famed for the wooden buildings of the old town, Eksjo is a great place to wander and enjoy the local craft shops and museums. For the more adventurous there is also a great walking trail in the hills an valleys. Eksjo offers one of the best golf courses in the region.
Beyond Eksjö in Vimmerby you will find Astrid Lindgrens world.

Vetlanda: 25km, City
Nice golfcourse, Horse riding on the Piscillafarm.
Further beyond Vetlanda there are activities like going into the old coppermine Kleva Gruva, gold panning in Ädelfors or in wintertime do skiing/downhillskiing at Kettilsås.

Sävsjö: 30km, City
Savsjo offers a great indoor swimming pool, plus an adventure house Boda Borg in the style of "crystal maze", perfect on a rainy day.
